Precision Product Retouching & Swatch Creation for Fashion Retail

 

A leading fashion retailer required pixel-accurate product retouching with strict layout, swatch, and metadata standards. Each image needed to meet marketplace and internal studio guidelines while maintaining visual consistency across high-volume catalogs.

Project Scope

The project involved 2 deliverables per product, including a main image and an alternate view, with precise swatch creation and layout control.

Deliverables Included:

  • View 1: Main Image

  • View 2: ALT1 Image

  • Color swatch deliverable (“SW”) generated from View 1

Key Challenges

  • Maintaining strict pixel and alignment rules across all images

  • Creating accurate 100px × 100px swatches without color deviation

  • Ensuring mannequin positioning followed exact guidelines

  • Removing unwanted mannequin features post-scaling

  • Managing high-volume files with consistent metadata and ratings

  • Preventing errors caused by incorrect labels, ratings, or color profiles

 

Our Solutions

Structured Retouching Workflow

MubyTech implemented a standardized retouching process to ensure accuracy and scalability.

  • Mannequin ear precisely positioned within provided guidelines

  • Product aligned without crossing the 480px baseline

  • Equal spacing maintained on left and right sides

  • 240px top safe zone and 480px bottom safe zone respected

  • Facial features of mannequins removed if visible after scaling

  • Silver products and mannequins desaturated for visual consistency

Swatch Creation & Accuracy

To maintain true-to-product color representation:

  • Swatch deliverable (“SW”) created from View 1 image

  • Fixed swatch size: 100px × 100px

  • Clean cut-out with no background contamination

  • Color accuracy preserved across all outputs

Quality Control & Metadata Verification

Every file passed through a multi-layer QC process using Adobe Bridge:

  • Images reviewed in List View / Metadata Workflow

  • Verified:

    • Dimensions

    • Resolution

    • Color Profile

    • Ratings & Labels

  • Final deliverables:

    • 5-star rated

    • No color labels

  • Any incoming color labels from SPL3 were removed before delivery
